Was this woman out of line?

She is in the wrong, she shouldn't have assumed that's what you meant. I wouldn't be upset by the way she is acting now though. She is probably embarrassed and upset with herself for accusing you like that. Just take the upperhand and smile at her if she goes by. It's not like you were friends in the first place so nothing is really ruined. She just wants to lick her wounds :)
