How do I deal with a difficult father?

I love my Dad, but he is very easily provoked. He doesn't ever really show love. All he ever talks to me about is how I am wasting his money. He gets mad at the littlest things, and insinuates that its because I'm stupid, or incompetent or something. He is hard to talk to. I don't know what to do about this. He has always been like this.
